Georgian House

We delivered a complete upgrade to this large end-of-terrace Georgian house in Co. Dublin, carefully adapting and modernizing a protected structure to cater for family life.

As much as was possible, we worked with the original footprint of the building. The project called for significant modernization in terms of rewiring and re-plumbing.

Constructing an internal archway at lower ground floor, naturally opened up the kitchen to an adjacent informal dining space, seamlessly delivering a dual aspect. The spaces of this floor are unified by a new, continuous polished concrete finish. While upstairs, beautiful and original features including intricate cornices, ceiling roses, architraves and shutters were carefully maintained and enhanced. Original pitch-pine floors were also retained and refinished.

Older structures require specific skill sets to restore their identity and adapt them in the appropriate way. We combined conservation expertise, architectural project management, and proven interiors insight to add a modern context to an historical gem.
